Every literary tradition is sustained by the spaces that make room for new voices. Yet for many writers, particularly in Ghana, those spaces remain far too few or difficult to access. Ta Adesa was founded on the belief that stories should not be limited by a lack of opportunity to live, but given the chance of a home to be widely read and remembered.

Ta Adesa—meaning “tell stories” in Ga (pronounced ɡã)—is a Ghanaian, female-led literary magazine devoted to the art of storytelling.

Founded in February 2022, we currently publish poetry and literary fiction, with plans to embrace additional genres as we grow.

We welcome submissions from writers of every nationality, but Ghanaian writers are particularly encouraged to submit.

Whether your work has travelled through many drafts or has only just found its language, we invite you to send us your stories that insist on being told.

To submit your work, please visit our Submissions page.

Ta Adesa is part of a growing literary ecosystem that also includes Adesa Library, an intimate library and bookshop, and Adesa Press, our incoming independent publishing imprint—each dedicated to cultivating a richer literary culture in Ghana and beyond.
