Water holds history on waves, on currents
Floating from origins to eternal generations
Where the journey continues without punctuation.
These waters carry peace in their depths
I looked through their rumbling stomachs and saw
The Heavens straining gloriously to the Almighty.
Men fell out in numbers, covering their faces in
Sparkles, hiding their shadows behind
A mask of constructed smiles
To resemble gods who claim another clan resides
Underwater with beautiful creatures
Ruling the seas beyond the powers of God.
Now, I send my thoughts into the waters
Yet to the sight of no supreme being below the seas.
But my eyes read from the oracles of men who narrate the fall of Satan from Heaven…
Satan never fell alone.
He fell into many kindreds; some into
water who birthed largely and
became Lords of the Seas.
Ergo, I dip my toe into the waters of my heart,
Wondering… If truly,
There are possessed by fallen angels—demons.
The poet, says Chukwuemeka Akachi
Left like the God creating Eve
We all exhume our excuses for wearing
Regalia of failures, but not our successes.
The end more is cheaper than the beginning.
Held un-recalled in the shackles of grief
I stretch my hand of few opportunities
To grab the garment of either love or relief,
Yet the heavy chains of gloom
Keep holding me back step after step
The wounded memories with names like
Mine, continue to flow freely like a river
Beckoning through my heart.
Death is a thief—an agent of nature’s mischief,
A dark star in the horizon
Outshining the ghost of our being.
Like cars, we were jacked mysteriously
Into the land of everlasting dwelling.
And I skip a breath, exultantly
As the sun drowns into the horizon,
Taking away the mixed tales of the loved ones
Whose memories are like caged birds—
Yearning to be heard in our thoughts.
Darkness swallows everything, at then end
Thus I carry secrets mightier than my heart
Till my beautiful chirps of dawn are down!
