Two poems on the feelings of wandering, and the beauty of places
Land of My Birth

Grew up in a land with two seasons

But I had heard of several others

Damn! I thought mine felt like prisons

I wanted to explore unlike my brothers

I wasn’t as content as they were; spewing with desire

So, I left to know what was beyond the sea

I departed to quench the wandering fire

Alas! Mixed feelings and numbness in my knee

The grass was never greener on the other side

I got no roses, just a stalk with thorns

From running through plantations with pride

To pushing through traffic with blowing horns

I miss the land of my birth, full of affection

It’s tasty waters and meals wrapped in leaves

A place where my family is my reflection

And there are no eyes staring like we thieves

Entering through the gates of no return

I would journey backwards and leap into the future

To the land I was born, I shall go.

Dopamine Surge

Here!

There!

Everywhere!

Moving to the left, my eyes on the right

Going downwards, pointing upwards

Touch the walls, inhale the air

Feel the flowers, run around the garden

Poses flow, one, two, and turn

While the timer counts to ten

A malfunction of my mind

The need for speed for my thought

While my movements play catch up

And my emotions fluttering for every scene

To keep the atmosphere in the heart

The geography in the head

For there is a tendency to yearn for this site

An id-controlling desire to come back

Although the chances are slim

A glance of this reality is also far fetched

So, in full knowledge

I allow myself to wonder

Here!

There!

Everywhere!
